Deer Presence

So this is a story I haven’t told anyone except for a few.

Back when mom got first diagnosed, she had to do an emergency surgery for a colon bypass. It was scary but our surgeon was great. Went home around 4am to take a nap and shower. It was dark out so I didn’t see anything strange. Woke up to go back to the hospital to visit mom and noticed that there was a dead deer right next to the house! I was so scared…it felt like a bad sign. So I called the town and they said probably a car hit it and it stumbled by the house before it died.

So I went to visit mom at the hospital but I didn’t tell her about the deer. Didn’t want her to see it as a negative sign. She was doing well and up and walking even after a huge surgery. Went home in a few days then I told her about the deer.

Her interpretation of it was positive. She said the deer prevented death from entering the house.

I haven’t thought much of the deer these few years. But this past few days it brought back the memory and feelings. On Sunday, a fawn came to visit the front of the house. It was caught on security camera. Came to munch on one of the plants. It stayed there for quite some time. Deers are very common in the area so didn’t really thought much of it. But on Monday. the fawn came again with another fawn and an adult deer. Munching on the same plant. So I went by the window and waved at it. The fawn just stared at me for a long time.
